One popular option is the Somalian Elephant Gold Coin. These coins were initially going to have the backing of Zambia. Elephant coins were even produced by the Bavarian State Mint along with Zambia from 1999 to 2003. It wasn’t until 2004 that these coins featured the backing of Somalia. Interestingly, while these coins are considered to be part of the African Wildlife series, only elephants have ever been featured.
Similar to annual BU coin programs from the Perth Mint, the image of elephants on the reverse changes with every new release. These coins feature the Somalian coat of arms on the obverse. While they are technically coins, the face value has been long debated. While 1 oz gold coins bear a face value of 1,000 Shillings, the Central Bank of Somalia has denied that these coins have any legal standing in Somalia.
Coins are issued in several weights and strikes. BU and proof coins are issued in sizes such as 1/50 oz, 1/25 oz, 1/10 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/2 oz, 1 oz, and 5 oz, among others. Silver coins are also available in this series.
You’ll find at Provident Metals we have a wide array of Niue gold coins. These coins are typically struck by other mints, such as the New Zealand Mint, and have the backing of Niue. Typically struck by CIT, these coins have the backing of the Cook Islands. Designs range from recreations of older designs to unique modern designs.
Some of the most intriguing fractional-ounce gold coins are backed by the Solomon Islands. The range of Solomon Islands gold coins we have at Provident Metals are either proof strikes or proof-like strikes.

One of the market’s most popular gold coin programs comes from Armenia with the Armenian Noah’s Ark Series.
These coins are issued in weights ranging from 1 gram to 1 Troy oz and are made with 99.99% pure gold. The design of these coins has not changed since they debuted.
The Armenian coat of arms is on the obverse, while a depiction of Noah’s Ark floating in front of Mount Ararat is on the reverse. Silver coins are also available.
The Gibraltar Lady Justice Series has been issued annually since 2021 and is available in a 1 oz and 1/10 oz weight. Lady Justice is seen holding a sword in one hand and a scale in the other.
Another series is the Gibraltar War Elephant Series which debuted in 2022. These proof coins are struck by the Scottsdale Mint and feature unique imagery of the mighty war elephant on the reverse.
