Valcambi Gold Bars at Provident Metals

Valcambi is a Switzerland-based mint that was established over 50 years ago. They were originally called Valori & Cambi before the name was shortened and combined to read Valcambi. The refinery has been in the precious metals business ever since and is one of the top names when it comes to gold bars on the market. Learn more about what kind of gold bars Valcambi offers here at Provident Metals.

Design of Minted Ingots and Cast Gold Bars

Valcambi offers a wide range of gold bar products, however, they’re all either minted ingots or cast bars. No matter which options you choose, you’ll find similar design elements between the two.

Cast bars represent the earliest form of gold bars made by human civilizations. Gold is heated to its liquid form and then poured into a prefabricated mold. The gold is then cooled and stamped with identifying marks usually on just one side of the bar. Due to how they’re made, it’s common for two cast bars from Vamcambi to differ slightly.

Minted ingots on the other hand have more refined and sharp edges. Minted ingots start as blanks, meaning they’re in the shape of a bar. A machine then uses thousands of pounds of pressure to engrave design elements onto the surface of the bar. Minted ingots are shipped within a sealed assay card.

For the most part, the design elements across these two types of bars are similar. The name of the mint, logo, metal, purity, and weight are all displayed on the obverse side. Minted ingots will also have the name of the mint on the reverse side of the bar as well.

CombiBars

The precious metal industry is always evolving. One of the greatest innovations came from Valcambi with their unique CombiBars. These gold bars are sold in larger weights such as 20 grams, 1 oz, and 100 grams, but can easily be broken into smaller pieces.

For example, the 1 oz CombiBar is a 1 oz bar that can be broken into 10 smaller pieces. Each piece will perfectly represent 1/10 oz of gold. These bars are made so that you can break them into smaller pieces without compromising the weight or purity of the gold bar.

These bars arrive like minted ingots, with an assay card. However, for larger CombiBars, included will be an assay card for each smaller piece that you can break off.

Scotiabank Gold Bars

Valcambi also works with other institutions to bring gold bars to market. For example, Scotiabank is among the world’s largest and most influential financial institutions. While they’re located in Canada, they serve customers all around the world with a variety of banking needs. They also create Soctiabank-branded bullion that is produced by Valcambi.

These gold bars are like the minted gold bars from Valcambi. They arrive in a sealed assay card featuring authentication marks as well as the signature from the certified assayer. These bars showcase the Scotiabank logo on the obverse with identifying marks along with Valcambi’s name on the reverse.
