Expand your collection of Indian Head bullion with our 50 count roll of Indian Head Copper Cents, now available for purchase at Provident Metals. Each coin is comprised of approximately 95% copper with a diameter of 19mm and a weight of 3 grams.
The obverse features a Native American -- believed to be modeled after Lady Liberty -- wearing a headdress. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the date of mintage are inscribed.
The reverse is a simple design, featuring a laurel wreath encircling the words ONE CENT.
The Indian Head Cent was produced by the United States Mint from 1859 to 1909. Both the obverse and reverse designs were created by James Barton Longacre, the chief engraver for the Philadelphia Mint.
The cent became extremely popular during the Civil War Era, when metals were in short supply. Their popularity continued to rise after the war, until they were eventually replaced by the Lincoln cent in 1909.
