Not sure why anyone would be turned off by the fact they are made by contract. JM no longer makes these but contracts Sunshine Mint. Sunshine is a highly respected company. The bars are proper strikes with serial numbers. Top notch credibility.

The bars are very well made with excellect quality. The Sunshine mint is the major supplier of blanks for the American Silver Eagle coins. Johnson Matthey also has a great deal of trust in them to make a quality product and to use the Johnson Matthey name. I would not put the Sunshine mint in the generic mint class. I hope to buy more in the future. I also like that each bar has a unique serial number .

These bars look very nice….but this will be that last time I purchase them. I was unaware that JM wasnt minting these bars. I’m a little disappointed that Johnson Matthey is allowing Sunshine Mint to make the bars for them.
If the REAL, old style JM bars come around again, I’ll be sure to buy some. But I’m done with these generic Sunshine Mint art bars.

Feels heavier than it looks; gives you the feel you really purchased something with some sold value. bought 2 more of these along side 2 other 1 ouncers. Comes sealed for protection and everything, a lovely touch. I would have preferred to buy in a bigger weight but you gotta walk before you and run.
Only thing that keeps me from 5 stars is the plastic; while its a great touch, the way they are cut is not so pleasing. (Of course you can always handle that yourself)
