The obverse depicts Merlin draped in an elegant cloak and carrying a walking stick. He stands in the middle of a snowy forest with a white owl perched near his shoulder and three hedgehogs at his feet.
The shared reverse in the Celtic Lore series features a celtic knot as the central focus, with additional celtic artwork circling the rim. Inside the rim are two wolves facing inward. Inscriptions read “CELTIC LORE” and “1 OZ 999 FINE SILVER.”
The Celtic Lore Provident original series features five designs based on the folklore, myths, and legends of the Celts. Each round showcases the original artwork of world-renowned artist and illustrator Howard David Johnson, along with the work of master sculptor Luigi Badia. These limited edition silver bullion rounds were produced at the Osborne Mint, in partnership with Anonymous Mint.
Each Merlin round comes edge-numbered with a certificate of authenticity. Rounds are protected inside of an Air-Tite capsule and a Provident-branded coin box.

It highlights details you can't see as well in the BU version. It is definitely worth having as it adds contrast to the content of the storyline on the coin itself. I can see this series disappearing fast! Another winner from Provident Metals!"

Wonderful, well made round. Quickly and securely delivered. However, I have one slightly negative point. You stated that the Celtic culture started in Ireland and Great Britain. That is not accurate. The Celts were in Europe for at least 800 years before migrating to the British Isles and Ireland. One can argue that the Celtic culture ended in Great Britain and Ireland."
