Produced during the 1970s, these Merrill Lynch gold bars are an intriguing option for gold investors. The bars were originally offered to Merrill Lynch customers as investment products following the repeal of gold ownership restrictions by Gerald Ford. With their high purity levels and fascinating backstory, these bars carry plenty of appeal for gold-buying enthusiasts. Provident Metals currently offers 1 oz Merrill Lynch Cast Gold Bars for purchase online.

Bar Highlights:

  • Arrives in protective plastic packaging!
  • Vintage gold bar from Merrill Lynch!
  • Contains 1 Troy oz of .9999 pure gold.
  • The obverse field depicts the Merrill Lynch logo.
  • On the reverse, there is a blank field.

When you order 1 oz Merrill Lynch Cast Gold Bars from Provident Metals, they will arrive to you in protective plastic packaging. Each of these bars consists of investment-grade .9999 pure gold. The bars were produced through the casting process, which differs from standard minted bars. Rather than being cut into individual pieces from sheets, the metal is liquified and poured into a pre-fabricated mold. The metal quickly dries and is then stamped with the requisite hallmarks and brand details. There is no difference in quality when it comes to casting versus minted bars. Rather, investors often choose between the two based on aesthetic preference alone.

Design

On the obverse of 1 oz Cast Gold Bars, you will find the Merrill Lynch company logo. This design consists of a bull, which represents power and aggression. In the context of investing, the bull refers to a bull market. This term describes a rise in prices, signaling market growth and prosperity. The reverse side of these bars features a blank field. Keep in mind that various dents and striations could be present here. This is merely a result of the casting process and is not considered a flaw.

History

On April 5, 1933, President Franklin Roosevelt signed Executive Order 1602. This order prohibited U.S. citizens from possessing gold coins, bullion, and certificates. The government stated that the hoarding of gold had contributed to economic stagnation, which only further worsened the depression. The act was finally repealed when President Gerald Ford signed a bill allowing for the private ownership of gold once again. This was then codified into law, becoming effective on December 31, 1974.
