In tribute to the Morgan silver dollar, minted from 1878 -1904 and again in 1921, these ounce .999 fine copper rounds carry a similar design. Each roll of 20 will include rounds measuring 27 mm in diameter and will total 5 AVDP oz of copper.
The original Morgan silver dollar featured the lovely face of Anna Willess Williams, who posed as Lady Liberty for designer George Morgan. Liberty wears a ribbon in her hair marked with her name, and Morgan intended his Liberty to be reminiscent not of the ancient Greeks, but of the beauty of real American women. The rim says “E PLURIBUS UNUM” with a decoration of 6-pointed stars.
The reverse on that original coin featured a proud standing bald eagle, drawn from real-life studies.
The ounce copper round Morgan Dollar uses the same basic obverse as the original design, but the reverse has been updated to a heraldic eagle clutching both arrows and an olive branch. A banner in its beak says “E PLURIBUS UNUM.” The rim reads “GOLDEN STATE MINT,” “1/4 OUNCE .999” and “FINE COPPER.” Thirteen 6-pointed stars decorate the upper field.
