Morgan in 1878, the design featured on the US silver dollars struck continuously from 1878 to 1904 and again in 1921. Coins in this condition exhibit slight impairments to the mint luster, with numerous contact marks, a few heavier marks, and small hairlines visible without the aid of magnification.
Please keep in mind that we offer the coins in this Morgan Dollar Silver 5-Coin Set with varying date marks. The date marks will range from 1878 to 1904, but you will not receive any matching date marks on the five coins in your set.
Obverse
Liberty features on the obverse of the coins in the Morgan Dollar Silver 5-Coin Set. This image of Liberty was created in 1878 by George T. Morgan. It depicts Liberty in left-profile relief with a coronet that has an inscription of LIBERTY on it. She also wears a laurel wreath crown and Phrygian cap with 13 stars in the design field. The other inscriptions include E PLURIBUS UNUM and the date mark.
Reverse
The heraldic eagle of the United States is found on the reverse of Morgan Dollar Silver Coins. Also created by Morgan, this front-facing relief of the bald eagle includes the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace. The is surrounded by inscriptions of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, and ONE DOLLAR.
History
Morgan Dollar Silver Coins were struck during this era at the Philadelphia Mint, San Francisco Mint, New Orleans Mint, and Carson City Mint. The Philadelphia Mint coins are the only ones to lack a mint mark. When mint marks are present, you will find them on the reverse. Please note we do not guarantee what mint marks, if any, are present in your set.
