When you purchase a Morgan Dollar Silver 7-Coin Set online from Provident Metals, this listing offers each of the seven coins in their own GSA plastic holder. These coins were packaged by the GSA after discovery in the vaults of the US Treasury with individual, hard plastic holders and a box. Included in the box is a Certificate of Authenticity. You will receive one of each date covering the following years: 1878, 1880, 1881, 1882, 1883, 1884, and 1885.

Please bear in mind that the original GSA holders are decades old at this point. You may notice signs of normal wear and tear on each. Additionally, some COAs include the term UNCIRCULATED along with Silver Dollar, while others may not.

Obverse

The obverse of all Morgan Dollar Silver Coins includes a left-profile portrait of Liberty. This effigy of Liberty includes a Phrygian cap holding up much of her hair, a laurel wreath on her head, and a coronet with the word LIBERTY on it. There are 13 stars on the design edge, with inscriptions of the date below the bust of Liberty and the phrase E PLURIBUS UNUM above.

Reverse

On the reverse side of Morgan Dollar Silver Coins, you will find George T. Morgans design of the heraldic eagle. This image lacks a US National Shield, but does include a front-facing eagle with the arrows of war and olive branch of peace in its talons. The inscriptions on this side include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, and ONE DOLLAR.

History

The coins available within this set represent seven of the first eight consecutive annual strikes of Morgan Dollars by the Carson City Mint. When you look at the original mintages issued for the dates in this set, the 1878 coin is the highest at just over 2.2 million coins, while the 1885 coin is the lowest at just 228,000 coins.
