Highlights:
Each Morgan Dollar Silver Coin offered through Provident Metals is securely encased in PCGS plastic slabs. Coins graded as Mint State 64 display average mint luster considering their age. Expect minor groupings of contact marks, one or two moderate marks, and occasional small hairlines. These coins come in the unique Rattler Holder, an original, larger plastic slab design from PCGS for certified coins.
Obverse
The obverse side of the Morgan Dollar Coin boasts a left-facing bust of Liberty, a masterpiece crafted by George T. Morgan. Liberty wears a Phrygian cap, coronet crown, and laurel wreath. Inscriptions include E PLURIBUS UNUM, LIBERTY, and the date.
Reverse
On the reverse side, you’ll find the majestic heraldic eagle design, another remarkable creation by George T. Morgan. The eagle stands proud, wings widespread, clutching both arrows and an olive branch symbolizing both the struggles of conflict and the hopes of peace. The inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, and ONE DOLLAR.
History
The main period of Morgan Silver Dollar production spanned from 1878 to 1904, with consistent annual minting during this era. The Philadelphia Mint and San Francisco Mint were key contributors, while the New Orleans Mint minted coins every year except 1878. Moreover, Carson City minted these coins during distinct periods: from 1878 to 1885 and 1889 to 1893.
