About the Arctic Fox
Inhabiting the Northern Hemisphere’s most frigid regions, the arctic fox has thick fur that goes from brown to white every winter, helping it blend into the surrounding habitat. The mammals are primarily monogamous, staying in one family group for several generations.
Though omnivorous, the arctic fox’s favorite meal is the lemming — a small rodent that looks similar to the hamster. Indigenous to Canada, the species is also native to Greenland, Russia, Alaska and even Scandinavia, where it is considered an endangered species.
