The obverse features Queen Elizabeth wearing her pearl earrings and necklace. The rim is inscribed with ELIZABETH II and 5 DOLLARS 2013.
Despite its common name and resemblance, the pronghorn is not an antelope. It is the only surviving member of the species artiodactyla, or “even-toed ungulate.” The horns of the antelope are made of a single laterally flat blade of bone that grows out of the skull. The pronghorn stands out because it is the second-fastest land animal, beaten on foot only by the cheetah!
