Obverse

Her expression is calm and dignified as her hair blows gently in the wind. You will also find the year of release on the obverse as well as inscriptions reading LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST.
Reverse
The reverse side of Peace Dollars features a bald eagle design. Here, the eagle has its wings folded as it looks off into the distance from a cliffside. Adding to the majesty of the image are rays of light emanating forth. You will also note an olive branch in the eagles talons, which is a symbol of peace. Inscriptions on the reverse face read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, ONE DOLLAR, PEACE.
History
The Peace Silver Dollar was originally struck from 1921 until 1928. It emerged again into circulation briefly in 1934-1935 due to an act of congress. Both the obverse and reverse of the coin were created by Anthony de Francisci, an Italian immigrant who won the design contest held by the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts. Following a long hiatus, the Peace Dollar emerged once again in a special 1921 commemorative release from the United States Mint.
