Liberty features on the obverse of all Pre-33 $10 Indian Eagle Gold Coins in a design from Augustus Saint-Gaudens. This design depicts Liberty as an indigenous figure with a feathered headdress on her head. The inscriptions on this face of the coin include a half-moon of 13 stars above her head with a date mark at the bottom of the design field.
The American bald eagle is depicted on the reverse of the Pre-33 $10 Indian Eagle Gold Coins. In this design, the American eagle is shown perched on a sheaf of arrows wrapped in an olive branch of peace. Inscriptions here include United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, In God We Trust, and Ten Dollars.
The Indian Head design was used on the US Eagle denomination from 1907 to 1933. There is a singular variation in the history of the Indian Eagle gold coins and it is found on the reverse of the coins.
