Obverse
Liberty features on the obverse of all Pre-33 $10 Indian Eagle Gold Coins in a design from Augustus Saint-Gaudens. This design depicts Liberty as an indigenous figure with a feathered headdress on her head. The inscriptions on this face of the coin include a half-moon of 13 stars above her head with a date mark at the bottom of the design field.
Reverse
The American bald eagle is depicted on the reverse of the Pre-33 $10 Indian Eagle Gold Coins. In this design, the American eagle is shown perched on a sheaf of arrows wrapped in an olive branch of peace. Inscriptions here include United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, In God We Trust, and Ten Dollars.
History
The Indian Head design was used on the US Eagle denomination from 1907 to 1933. There is a singular variation in the history of the Indian Eagle gold coins and it is found on the reverse of the coins. The 1907 release did not feature the national motto of In God We Trust on the reverse as it was added to the series starting in 1908.
