To find coins minted before World War II in good condition might be challenge. However, due to their rarity, these coins can fetch prices that are far higher than their original face value. These coins replaced the design from Christian Gobrecht. Today, you can purchase the $10 Indian Gold Eagle Coin from Provident Metals in MS64 condition.
Highlights:
Coins in this listing received a Mint State 64 grade from either the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NCG) or Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS). In this condition, coins may have a good overall luster with an even strike. However, you might notice several small contact marks in groups on the surface of the coin. Two moderately heavy marks might also be present. Overall, the coins are of attractive quality.
Obverse
Lady Liberty is featured on the obverse face of these coins in left-profile relief. In this depiction, Lady Liberty is wearing a feathered headdress upon her head. Circling the design are 13 stars meant to represent the original colonies of the United States. There will also a date mark on this side of the coin below Lady Libertys bust.
Reverse
On the reverse, you can find the image of an eagle standing atop a quiver of arrows that are wrapped in an olive branch. For the years 1907 and 1908, there is no national motto on the coins. However, all coins struck at later dates do feature the In God We Trust Motto.
History
Augustus Saint-Gaudens, a designer for the United States Mint, is responsible for many coin designs. In fact, he was the designer of the Gold Double Eagle and the reverse of all Indian Gold Eagle coins.
