The $20 Double Eagle Gold Coins were only ever issued with two design elements. While five designs were used in total across the Eagle, Half Eagle, and Quarter Eagle denominations, the introduction of the Double Eagle in 1849 came after the original three designs in the collection were canceled. Right now, you can get Pre-33 $20 Liberty and Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle 2-Coin Gold Sets online from Provident Metals.

American bald eagles are found on the reverse side of coins in the Pre-33 $20 Liberty and Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle 2-Coin Gold Set. A modified Great Seal of the United States reminiscent of the heraldic eagle is found on the reverse of Liberty Head coins. This design includes inscriptions of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The national motto features on coins dated 1866-1907, while the face value is TWENTY D. on coins dated 1849-1866 and TWENTY DOLLARS on coins dated 1877-1907. The Saint-Gaudens coins feature a bald eagle soaring over the sun as it rises. There is no national motto on 1907 coins, with IN GOD WE TRUST added in 1908.
