This front-facing relief shows Liberty with a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the left. Reverse

In this design, the eagle is shown in left-profile relief as it soars above the rising sun on the edge of the field. History
Most Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coins issued after World War I wound up in Europe, largely through international trade. Few specimens ever returned to the United States in Mint State conditions, and most of those that never left the US in the first place were melted down in the 1930s.
