Pre-World War II coins are very rare due to their age, which can make them valuable collectors items. The Pre-1933 $2.50 Liberty Gold Quarter Eagle Coins were originally minted between 1840 and 1907. However, since these coins are rare, they are worth much more than their $2.50 face value. Today, you can purchase these unique coins in MS62 condition from Provident Metals.

Highlights:

  • Each coin ships in a protective plastic slab!
  • Coins ship in MS62 condition!
  • Struck between 1840 and 1907!
  • Each coin contains .12094 Troy oz of .900 gold.
  • Graded and slabbed by either the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation or Professional Coin Grading Service.
  • Struck by the U.S. Mint.
  • Given a face value of $2.50 (USD) backed by the United States of America.
  • Features designs by Christian Gobrecht.

Coins in this listing received a Mint State 62 grade from either the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NCG) or Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS). Coins in this condition can have a noticeably impaired or dull luster. Hairlines might be noticeable, and there could be large, unattractive scuff-marks present on major features of the coin.

Obverse

On the obverse face of each coin, you will see the image of Lady Liberty in left profile. In the image, she has her hair pinned back with a string of pearls. She also wears a crown bearing the word Liberty. Around the design, you will see 13 stars representing the original colonies.

Reverse

The reverse side of the coin showcases the heraldic eagle image. In this design, the eagle has a shield on its chest. In its talons, the eagle clutches arrows and an olive branch. Around the eagle design, you will see the words United States of America and the coins face value.

History

The United States Mints Philadelphia, Charlotte, Dahlonega, San Francisco, and New Orleans Mints struck these coins between 1840 and 1907. These coins were eventually replaced by the Indian Gold Quarter Eagle Coins in 1908.
