Obverse
The obverse side of the Proof American Eagle 1 oz Gold Coin includes a depiction of Lady Liberty from Augustus Saint-Gaudens. It features Liberty in front-facing relief with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. Rays of sunshine originate behind her figure on the horizon and a ring of 50 stars encircles the design field.
Reverse
On the reverse face of Proof American Eagle 1 oz Gold Coins is a depiction of a family of American bald eagles. Designed in 1986 by Miley Busiek, this design features a male eagle in flight over the family nest as a female eagle guards over the hatchling within the nest.
History
Proof American Eagle Gold Coins debuted in this 1 oz gold weight in 1986. Date marks available in this series include 1986 to 2008 and 2010 to present. No 2009 coins were issued as the US Mint redirected all blanks to coining its Brilliant Uncirculated coins. Date marks on the coins were originally inscribed in Roman numerals through 1991, with 1992 coins marking the switch to Arabic numerals. All 1 oz coins have W mint marks from the West Point Mint.

In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies.
