Lady Liberty features on the obverse of all Proof American Eagle 1 oz Platinum Coins. The US Mint used the same design on the obverse from 1997 to 2017. This design is the front-facing image of the Statue of Liberty created by John Mercanti for the debut of the series. From 2018 onward, the US Mint will feature new, modern images of Lady Liberty. Inscriptions will include Liberty, In God We Trust, E Pluribus Unum, and the date mark.

Reverse

For the reverse design of Proof American Eagle Platinum Coins, the images vary from one year to the next. The early releases all featured new depictions of the American bald eagle, while other design collections within the series focus on symbols of the federal government, images of Americana, or other designs of Liberty. In general, you will find inscriptions of United States of America, $100, and .9995 Platinum 1 oz.

The Proof American Eagle 1 oz Platinum Coin is the only collection at the US Mint using new designs on either side each year. Comparatively, the American Eagle Silver and Gold coins come with the same designs on the obverse each year.
