There are two denominations of US coinage produced in the last half-century that have proven popular with collectors. The Kennedy Half Dollar and Eisenhower Dollar feature iconic imagery, and as two of the lesser-used denominations in circulation, these coins are ideally suited for private mints to use in creating collectible coins with enhanced imagery. The Eisenhower Dollar has recently been used to create a commemorative coin marking the recent Mars 2020 mission landing its robotic rover on the surface of Mars. Today, you have the chance to buy Eisenhower Dollar Rover Landing Legal Tender Coins online from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
There is no more fitting combination of high-definition, modern graphics on a legal tender coin than this collectible specimen. The Eisenhower Dollar was released two years after NASAs Apollo 11 mission successfully sent a three-man crew into space, with two of those astronauts becoming the first humans to step foot on another celestial body. All three returned safely to Earth. The mission patch from Apollo 11 is featured on the reverse of Eisenhower Dollars used in this release. The obverse offers an overlaid image covering President Eisenhowers bust with a full-color depiction of the Mars 2020 Perseverance rover on the surface of Mars.
Obverse
In the obverse design field, the Eisenhower Dollar Rover Landing Legal Tender Coins feature the image of the robotic rover on the surface of the Martian planet. The red hues of the Martian surface are stunningly captured in the design, with the Perseverance rover in the foreground. Inscriptions on this face of the coin read Perseverance Rover Landing and 02.18.21. The latter is the landing date for the Perseverance rover on the Martian surface.
Reverse
For the reverse design, Eisenhower Dollar Rover Landing Legal Tender Coins come with a depiction of the Apollo 11 mission patch. Used by the United States Mint from 1971 to 1974 and 1977 to 1978 in this series, it shows an American bald eagle on the surface of the Moon with an olive branch in its talons. The inscriptions on this face of the coin include United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, and One Dollar.
History
The Mars 2020 program launched Perseverance to Mars nearly 51 years to the day that NASA sent Apollo 11 to the Moon. Apollo 11 returned to Earth eight days after its July 16, 1969, takeoff. Mars 2020 launched on July 30, 2020, and reached the Martian surface on February 18, 2021.
Ordering
These Eisenhower Dollar Rover Landing Legal Tender Coins are available to you inside individual capsules with a small display stand enabling upright display of the coin. Each one has high-definition, colorized graphics covering the bust of President Eisenhower on the obverse.
