The Royal Australian Mint is one of the most respected coining facilities in the world and is also one of many to release lunar-themed designs each year. The Royal Australian Mints Lunar New Year collection offers both silver and gold coins, with the latter series offering both 1 oz and fractional-ounce coins. Provident Metals currently has Royal Australian Mint Lunar 1/10 oz Gold Coins available to you for online purchasing.
When you purchase the Royal Australian Mint Lunar 1/10 oz Gold Coins through this Provident Metals, you receive coins with individual protective plastic capsules. The coins in this listing are chosen at our discretion after your payment has been processed. Provident Metals cannot guarantee the design and/or date of the coin you receive in advance.
All coins are picked from our available inventory after your payment is cleared, so the item you receive is determined by availability at that time. If you purchase several coins, please keep in mind that the dates and designs could match all of the coins you receive.
The obverse face of the Royal Australian Mint 1/10 oz Lunar Gold Coin bears an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Many of these coins will feature the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II created in 1998 and used on Australian coins from 1999 to 2019. Coins issued from 2020 onward will feature the sixth-generation effigy of the Queen created in 2015 by Jody Clark.
On the reverse side of RAM 1/10 oz Lunar Gold Coins are varying images of the animals from the Zodiac. The Chinese Lunar Calendar features 12 animals in a repeating cycle that always starts with the Year of the Mouse and concludes with the Year of the Pig. Each animal is featured for just one date mark at a time, with the animals repeating each time it appears again on the calendar. For example, the Year of the Ox designs would appear on 2009 and 2021 coins.
Founded in 1965, the Royal Australian Mint is located in the federal capital city of Canberra, Australia. While the Perth Mint is the oldest operating mint in Australia, the Royal Australian Mint is the official sovereign mint of the nation.
