Obverse
The obverse of the Royal Australian Mint Lunar 1/4 oz Gold Coins features a bust of Queen Elizabeth II in right-profile relief. Her Majesty features in one of two possible designs on these coins. These include the Ian Rank-Broadley design that shows the Queen wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara on her head. The Royal Australian Mint is one of two operational mints in Australia, and is actually the younger of the two. The Royal Australian Mint was founded in 1965 with passage of the Currency Act of 1965. Located in Canberra, it is the official sovereign mint of Australia.
