The reverse shows the famous eagle, flying toward the left with grace and strength. The sun rises, its rays decorating the background of the round. The sun is underlined with the words IN GOD WE TRUST. The top rim reads .999 FINE COPPER and ONE AVDP OZ.
The original Saint Gaudens Double Eagle was made of gold and circulated from 1907 to 1933. It was the sculptor’s final work, and is considered one of the most beautiful coins ever produced.
