The official silver bullion coin of the United States is the American Eagle Silver Coin. This popular coin is issued annually in three variations by the US Mint. Collectors and investors who want to diversify their portfolio with these coins can purchase them individually, or by buying a Monster Box of 500. However, you can also order mint-sealed tubes, containing 20. Learn more about these Tubes of American Eagle Silver Coins, right here at Provident Metals.

What is a Tube of American Eagle Silver Coins?

A Tube of American Eagle Silver Coins is a mint-sealed tube of BU American Silver Eagles. These protective plastic tubes are from the US Mint, with each tube containing 20 silver coins. This allows investors and collectors alike to purchase these coins in bulk.

Each BU American Eagle Silver Coin contains 1 Troy oz. of .999 pure silver, with a face value of $1 (USD). This means that every tube contains 20 Troy oz. with a face value of $20 (USD). These tubes are the same tubes you would find in a Monster Box.

Tubes of American Eagle Silver Coins are only available for BU coins in this series, not the proof or burnished coins.

Design and History of American Eagle Silver Coins

The American Eagle Silver Series debuted in 1986 via the Liberty Coin Act which was approved on July 9, 1985. The series debuted with a BU and a proof coin, each in just a 1 oz weight. BU coins have been released annually ever since, becoming some of the most popular investment bullion coins in the world.

The design of the obverse has remained the same since 1986. Adolph A. Weinman’s Walking Liberty, found on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar, is used on the obverse of these coins. This design showcases Liberty, holding oak branches and wearing the American flag, walking toward the sun.

The reverse design has changed once during the history of this well-known coin program. The current design features a flying eagle with its wings stretched wide and a branch in its talons. This Emily Damstra design was used starting in the second half of 2021, starting with 2021 Type 2 Coins. From 1986 to 2021 Type 1, the design was a heraldic eagle by John Mercanti. This design featured a heraldic eagle with a shield on its chest and 12 five-point stars above its head.
