Obverse

On the obverse side of these nickels, you’ll find President Jefferson’s left-profile bust, created by Felix Schlag. This iconic image graced the US Nickel until 2004. The inscriptions read IN GOD WE TRUST, LIBERTY, and the date.

Reverse

Meanwhile, the reverse side features a depiction of Monticello, also crafted by Schlag in 1938. Although briefly replaced in the early 2000s, this timeless design returned in 2006 and has remained since. Inscriptions read E PLURIBUS UNUM, MONTICELLO, FIVE CENTS, and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

History
