And I have an issue with the description of it being a Siren, like in mythology, when clearly it is a mermaid. Why not just call it The Mermaid? Mermaids are sexy, right? Regardless, I wish I had bought at least two or more, just because of the increase in value of the series as a whole."

Honestly, this round could be a lot cheaper. Doesn’t have a cool 3d effect like the grand canyon round, which was almost proof like. Hopefully provident brings down the price a bit on future designs.

I bought a couple of these coins as a test of Provident rather than just wanting the coins themselves. I’m pleased to say that as a first time buyer from Provident I was generally pleased with their service.
Now as to the Privateer high relief coin, it’s ok. But I’m not overly impressed to be frank. The high relief means a very rough surface, including the areas where the markings can be found. I know my eyes aren’t great, but I had to use an illuminated magnifying glass to read the 2oz .999 markings due to it being on an uneven surface.
Normally I buy American Eagles or Canadian Maple leaf coins which have extremely fine artwork on them. I thought the privateer was a bit too busy, like they were trying to cram stuff onto the coin.
Would I buy more? Maybe. I don’t feel like I wasted money with this purchase, but I think the next 2oz round I buy will NOT be a high relief coin.

I still like the theme of the Privateer Rounds. The obverse is amazing as always, but the reverse was lacking. It is a great design. After seeing what they could do with the Grand Canyon round, I thought this one would be deeper than the original Privateer. At least make the background with the boat flat and make the foreground with the siren really pop out. Overall, great design and it shipped really fast. Still love the Privateer Series.
