Over the past several years, South Korea’s KOMSCO mint has issued some of the world’ most unique bullion products. You may have heard of their immensely popular Chiwoo, Tiger, and ZI:SIN series; all three have been met with tremendous worldwide success. While you might be aware of KOMSCO’s silver products, this respected mint also produces a similar line of beautiful, limited-mintage gold items too. Learn more about the thre KOMSCO gold round series below:

Chiwoo Cheonwang Series

Introduced in 2016, this Series features the image of Chiwoo Cheonwang, a real-life figure whose battle victories earned him the status of a mythological figure among ancient Chinese and Korean people. Chiwoo Cheonwang medals are released in a deliberate progression. The reverse side changes each year in chronological order as the series follows Chiwoo as he prepares for war and leads his troops into battle.

Zi:Sin Series

Each year, the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation (KOMSCO) unveils a new design in the Zi:Sin coin series that corresponds with the 12-year cycle of the lunar calendar. Zi:Sin stands for the Twelve Guardians: God’s commanders who are assigned to protect the human race from all twelve directions around the globe. The commanders roam the earth, protecting mankind from threats like demons and plagues by wielding their extraordinary powers over nature. While the commanders are in human form, each one wears a helmet and carries a unique weapon representing a mythical creature.

Tiger Medallions

Launched in 2016, the Tiger Medallion Series features the endangered Korean Tiger, also known as the Siberian Tiger. The Korean Tiger is an important symbol of South Korea, and it’s believed that just 300-500 remain in the country today. South Korean Tigers rank among the “Four Tigers of Asia” with China, Japan, and Taiwan. Each Gold Tiger medallion is issued by KOMSCO without a monetary denomination.
