  • Silver Bars at Provident Metals

The Royal Canadian Mint is among the most popular mints in the world, primarily for their Canadian Maple Leaf Silver Coin Series. However, the RCM also produces several other silver bullion products, such as silver bars. Learn more about these RCM Silver Bars, right here at Provident Metals.

    Silver Bar Sizes

The RCM releases silver bars in several sizes. At Provident Metals, the main selections consist of a 10 oz bar, a 100 oz bar, and a 1 kilo bar. A 1 kilo bar contains 32.151 Troy oz of silver. All bars from the Royal Canadian Mint are made with at least .999 pure silver.

    Typical Packaging

Silver bars from the RCM arrive, typically, in protective plastic to preserve the condition of your silver. These bars, however, arrive with unique security features to help potential counterfeiting.

Similar to the Canadian Maple Leaf Silver Series, silver bars from the RCM come with a small sugar maple leaf privy mark. This privy includes a laser-mark micro engraving within the leaf as well as Bullion DNA anti-counterfeiting technology.

    Types of Bars

The Royal Canadian Mint offers investors and collectors two primary options when it comes to silver bars. They often feature the same design elements, but each bar has a unique process in how they were made.

    • Minted Ingot: Silver minted ingots start as blanks. A blank is a piece of metal void of any design elements. Blanks are loaded into a machine that applies thousands of pounds of pressure with a die containing design elements. The machine presses the design into the blank, creating a bullion bar, known as a minted ingot.
    • Cast: Cast bars go through a very different process. Silver is placed into a cast or a mold. The cast is then heated allowing the silver to form the shape of the mold. Once the silver is cooled, it is removed and stamped with design elements, typically on just one side.
