For investors seeking a timeless and reliable choice, Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins have been a preferred option since 1979. The series was introduced with a 1 oz gold coin boasting an impressive .999 purity. In 1982, the gold content was further enhanced to .9999 fineness, and the collection expanded to include 1/4 and 1/10 oz coins. As demand grew, additional weights were introduced, including the 1/2 oz coin in 1986, the 1/20 oz coin in 1993, and the 1 Gram coin in 2014.

Obverse

Now, as we enter a new era, the 2024 Maple Leaf 1/2 oz Gold Coins proudly display the first-ever portrait of King Charles III, expertly crafted by the Royal Canadian Mint. This historical depiction marks the third time in Royal Canadian Mint history that a monarch’s likeness has been brought to life within Canada’s borders.

Reverse

The reverse side of the 2024 Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coin showcases the iconic sugar maple leaf design. This enduring symbol of Canada has graced the coins since their inception in 1979 and remains a beloved emblem across all versions of the coins, be it gold, silver, platinum, or palladium.

History

From the very beginning, these coins featured the esteemed likeness of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse side. Initially, effigies created by the Royal Mint adorned the Gold Maples from 1979 to 1989. Starting in 1990, Canadian artists took up the mantle, crafting exquisite portraits of the Queen and this will continue during the reign of King Charles III.
