Though severely outnumbered during the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 BC, King Leonidas I led the Spartans in a clash against Xerxes I and the Persian Army.
The Spartans fought for three days and, though ultimately defeated, they did not go down without a fight. The Spartans caused extensive damage to the Persian forces, delaying progress to Athens — giving citizens time to escape.
Prior to battle, Xerxes’ demanded that King Leonidas and his Spartan army lay down their weapons. The King bravely responded in his Greek tongue: “Molon labe!”
“Come and take.”
Now the famous phrase has been memorialized on this 1 Oz Molon Labe Silver Round, available exclusively at Provident Metals.
The obverse features a Spartan helmet with two swords and five arrows crossing behind it. A banner runs across the arrows above the helmet, reading MOLON LABE. A banner below is inscribed with the same phrase in Greek.
COME AND TAKE IT is inscribed on the reverse of each Molon Labe round, along with 1 OZ .999 FINE SILVER. Between the inscriptions are two overlapping guns, one star and a cannon. The phrase — along with the cannon and star — also appeared on the Gonzalez flag, which was flown by Texans during the Battle of Gonzales which initiated the Texas Revolution.
The phrase “molon labe” has been repeated by countless leaders and generals over the centuries. Meant to inspire, the expression is relevant to this day, as gun control takes the nation by storm, and Americans’ right to bear arms is threatened.

- Beautiful!R.on 6/11/14
OverallOnline pics cannot do justice to the Molon Labe design. The detail defies words and the message... well the message speaks for itself. These rounds are winners (as are the copper ones).
- One of my favorite coins everSo Few Bulletson 6/2/14
OverallThe message is great. The workmanship and attention to the fine details is even better than national mints, This really is ART on a coin! The satin finish is gorgeous. Grand Slam Provident!
- A Great Addition To Your Collection.Rubyon 1/18/14
OverallThis is a wonderful round. The overall design is simple enough that it does not overwhelm the 'MOLON LABE' motto, yet it does contain much detail. The designers have achieved a perfect balance in my opinion. The strike is incredible and the message is unmistakable. These rounds are priced just a tad bit over others, but once you see one in person, you will understand why....these are absolutely incredible and certainly worth the price.

OverallThis is absolutely fantastic, the fields are flawless and there is lots of detail in the design. I am incredibly satisfied and would definitely recommend this to someone.
- Interesting conversational piece..Williamon 11/26/13
OverallThis is a awesome piece of fine silver that carries a strong message. It does have a bit of a premium compared to other generic rounds but it is well struck with a wonderful matte finish. I wish they included an air-tight capsule with this round to preserve and protect it. It would be great if they came out with a proof version! I would recommend this to collectors or those looking to give a special gift that will withstand the test of time.
- Nice design, struck off centerKevinon 11/26/13
OverallThis is a very nice coin design. I am just not impressed with my coin as it was struck off center and that drives me nuts.
- excellent coinMike R(Long island)on 11/15/13

- Loved itKaiseron 10/25/13
OverallNormally, I buy the cheapest possible rounds for the sake of having as much silver as possible. This coin however was worth the extra bit...I really enjoy this one and the Don't tread on me coins. It is a battle cry for the dying freedom in America.
- Love it!Justinon 10/24/13
OverallWell struck coin, the detail in the guns is amazing. The helmet is well done too with the battle scars adorning it, greatly defined lines.
- outstandingroberton 10/19/13

- My kind of CoinJeffreyon 10/16/13
OverallI really like the coin, a bite more than the bars or other rounds, but worth it. Wish they would limit the mitage on these..now that would be cool..
- Yes I recommend this exceptional silver round to everyone.Davidon 10/16/13
OverallGreat design and subject for a exceptional silver round, the Satin Finish tops off its quality which is a welcome change from the Proof Like rounds that I feel is over used in todays market. Job Well Done, I will be coming back for more rounds and I have been recommending this round to other collectors and silver sellers alike.
- Nice additionT.A.Ron 10/13/13
OverallI like the message of this round as well as the depiction. It weighed in at 31.2342 grams so well over a troy oz. I don't think I need any more at the premium it carries but the one is very nice to add to my collection.
- GREAT DETAIL!!!Daveon 10/11/13
OverallBeautiful coin with a serious issue.
Missed out on the Proof Version.
- Super quality and excellent as a Challenge CoinDonaldon 10/11/13
OverallThe quality is superb and makes an excellent Challenge Coin. A good example of why we should protect our 2nd Amendment rights!
I just wish they would make these in Copper, so I could afford to buy a hundred to pass out to some of my friends!
- New Challenge CoinLaurinon 10/10/13
OverallBeautiful coins. My family are now going to be useing these as our challenge coins. Great product.
- impressive qualityjustinon 10/9/13
Overallnot even one single scratch on the coin, there are a few blemishes on the finish on the coin but it is as small as the smallest grain of sand you could ever find i would still feel comfortable calling it a flawless coin
one thing i was highly impressed by was the detail in the rifles and shipping was very fast
me being the AK guy that i am i do wish is to have the option of choosing between the AR or the AK
- good lookingCharleson 10/7/13
OverallI like this one it looks good
- Very Nice CoinShaneon 10/7/13
OverallThis is a very nice coin for my collection. Glad I was able to get them early before stock runs out. Only drawback is they're priced higher than other premium coins. Would like Provident to publish the coin size (in mm) so we can get the cases for them instead of playing the guessing game. Get em while you can and you will not be disappointed. Great detail. Thanks Provident for another great product.
- Great silver Molon Labe coin !Steveon 10/2/13
OverallI bought a couple of these...I'm a repeat PM customer! Fast shipping and the flat rate 4.95 shipping was a good deal. Maybe Free shipping during the holidays?.... Just a suggestion. Keep offering these great design coins!
- FantasticDavid on 10/1/13
OverallI was a bit hesitant to buy the coin because of the bad review someone had posted. I thought heck with it I am gambling type of man and at worst i have an ugly ounce of silver at best I got a bad bad coin...(bad = good) anyway the coin is awesome!!! Seriously you cannot do wrong purchasing this coin so do not worry this coin is bad (bad as in totally awesome) I will buy at least two more. Whats more inspirational than a spartan? Nothing! Thank you for the coin it's excellent
- This rounds quality is as good as any on the marketDaveon 9/29/13
OverallThe design is eye catching and the satin finish offsets it from the normal proof like round that is over used in the market. The round states its idea very well and we of the military both active and retired enjoy the statement this round makes. We have also shown it to our 2nd amendment supporters and received nothing but positive reactions. Overall this rounds quality is as good as any on the market and will be purchased by us on ongoing orders. Job well done, this customer will be coming back!
- Good coin, very specific customer baseBrittanyon 9/24/13
Overall1.Striking of round is good, quality detail is good, bullion quality round.
2.Heard arguments saying it’s a copy of Chris Duane’s SBSS coin. I do not agree, they have been making military challenge coins like this for years. If anything Chris ripped that off from the military.
3.Obverse: Good styling like the Greek theme, do not like the five arrows with it though. Reminds me of the Rothschild’s five arrows. Maybe it is supposed to though?
4.Reverse: Looks like a hodgepodge of military challenge coins. Stars, cannons, and assault rifles. Star looks a bit off center, maybe due to rifles.
5.The obvious three different themes of weapons. Greek, continental and modern rifles.
6. Actually I do like the design, but it is very similar to a challenge coin.
7. All the empty space is irritating on both sides there is a lot of wasted space.
8.I would like to know who actually minted it, they do not go into much detail about provident's minting process.
9.I also would like it better is provident metals would show an actual picture of the coin rather than a computer generated image of what it’s supposed to look like.
10.Overall I really like the coin, just like my Zombucks. Whomever designed the Zombucks is awesome but these I would give 3/10 on design. Quality 10/10 though.
11.Shipping was Awesome!!! Five bucks and it was here in four days from Texas to Indiana. Ordered on a Thursday showed up on Monday. Provident metals has always been a reliable online vendor with fast shipping for me and that is why I keep sending them my money.
