There is a fresh new group of Silverbacks available to collectors, featuring the gods and goddesses tied to Mount Olympus. In Greek mythology, the Olympians were believed to rule from their mountain home while influencing both divine matters and the lives of mortals, often driven by pride, rivalry, and ambition. The opening issue in the Legends of Olympus Series presents Hades. Right now, 1 Hades Silverback Silver Notes are available from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Each 1 Hades Silverback Silver Note comes with a plastic currency sleeve for easy storage and display, and you can also purchase them in packs of 100 notes. These Silverbacks are known for being extremely small fractional-silver pieces, with only 1/1000 troy ounce of .999 pure silver in each note. The Hades design launches the Legends of Olympus Series, a new collection that will highlight different Olympian figures from Greek mythology.
Design
The obverse design of the Hades Silverback Silver Note shows Hades in a bold image holding the leash of Cerberus, the famous three-headed guardian of the underworld. The realm of the dead was also called Hades, a sprawling underground kingdom where every soul was believed to go after death, no matter how they lived. Cerberus was said to stand at the entrance, making sure the dead could enter but never return to the world above. On the reverse of the note, you will find a mirrored version of the main design, offering a matching reflection of the artwork from the obverse side.
History
Hades is sometimes not counted among the twelve Olympians because he ruled the underworld rather than living on Mount Olympus. Even so, he remained one of the most powerful gods, sharing control of the world after helping defeat the Titans alongside his brothers Zeus and Poseidon. In many older stories, Hades is not portrayed as evil, but instead as firm and even-handed, rarely leaving his realm and usually keeping to his responsibilities rather than interfering with human affairs.
