The fourth and final design of the US Gold Eagle circulation series was the Indian Gold Eagle. This was one of the two designs of the era created by famed artist-engraver Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Though his Gold Double Eagle design would go down in history as the greatest American coin design, the Indian Gold Eagle design was in circulation at the same time. Today, Pre-33 $10 Indian Gold Eagle Coins are available to you online from Provident Metals.

Highlights:

  • Available to ship to you in the PCGS or NGC protective slab!
  • Struck by the US Mint from 1907 to 1933!
  • Limited availability of certified coins!
  • Contains .48375 Troy oz of actual gold content.
  • The face value of $10 (USD) is fully backed by the US government.
  • Graded Mint State 63 by the Professional Coin Grading Service or Numismatic Guaranty Corporation.
  • Liberty wears a feathered headdress on the obverse of the coin.
  • An American bald eagle stands perched on a collection of arrows with an olive branch.
  • Please note that you may receive several matching date marks when you buy more than one coin in this listing.

Augustus Saint-Gaudens was approached directly by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1905 to help him achieve his vision of redesigning American currency. Saint-Gaudens would redesign these $10 Gold Eagle and the $20 Gold Double Eagle coin prior to his death in 1907.
Obverse
This side of the Pre-33 $10 Indian Gold Eagle Coin includes the image of Liberty in left-profile relief. The design is relatively simplistic compared to Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle design. Libertys feminine features are topped by a feathered headdress. There are 13 stars over her head and a date mark below.
Reverse
On this face of Pre-33 $10 Indian Gold Eagles is the standing eagle design. The bird stands with its wings at its side on a sheaf of arrows. The arrows are wrapped by an olive branch and inscriptions include United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, and Ten Dollars. The 1907 debut did not include the national motto, but all coins from 1908 to 1933 have In God We Trust inscribed.
History
The $10 Indian Gold Eagle was the final design of the $10 Gold Eagle series. The Indian Gold Eagle was the only Liberty design in the Gold Eagle Series to feature a feminine Lady Liberty with an indigenous tribal headdress on her head.
Ordering
All of the Pre-33 $10 Indian Gold Eagle Coins in this listing are Mint State 63 specimens. The coins have slightly impaired mint luster, numerous small contact marks, a few scattered heavy marks, and possible small hairlines. The coins were graded by either the PCGS or NGC without a guarantee from us on which grading house completed certification.
