Instead of the standard portrait of Jefferson, the bill includes the iconic black & white image of Secretariat crossing the finish line at Belmont Stakes in 1973. Today, you have the chance to buy $2 Secretariat Triple Crown 50th Anniversary Legal Tender Notes online from Provident Metals.
Note Highlights:
When you order $2 Secretariat Triple Crown Legal Tender Notes from Provident Metals, they will arrive in new condition. Each note was selected from a crisp, untouched Federal Reserve pack before receiving proprietary enhancements at The Merrick Mint. Upon arrival, you will find your note housed in a special blue folio that includes a Certificate of Authenticity from the mint.
Obverse
On the obverse of $2 Secretariat 50th Anniversary Legal Tender Notes dual images of Secretariat are featured. On the right side, we see Secretariat in a colorized photograph along with his jockey, Ron Turcotte. Then in the center of the note, we find the iconic black & white image of Secretariat claiming victory at Belmont Stakes in 1973.
Reverse
The reverse of $2 Secretariat Triple Crown 50th Anniversary Legal Tender Notes shows the Founding Fathers presenting a draft of the Declaration to John Hancock. This image is based in an 1819 oil painting by the great John Trumbull. It has appeared on the back of the $2 bill since 1976.
History
31 lengths. This number is cemented in Thoroughbred history as Secretariats margin of victory at Belmont Stakes in 1973. The length is a unit of measurement in Thoroughbred racing that covers a horse from head to tail. On average this is about 8 feet long. When the official measurement was calculated, Secretariat beat the second-place horse by 253 feet and 2 inches. Today, a decorative pole stands at Belmont at this distance from the finish line in commemoration of Secretariats amazing feat.
