Obverse

For the obverse of Secretariat Triple Crown JFK Half Dollars, there is a depiction of Secretariat and his jockey. The horses jockey was named Ron Turcotte, a Canadian whose career was defined by the 1973 Belmont Stakes race. The obverse also contains inscriptions reading SECRETARIAT, TRIPLE CROWN, 50^TH ANNIVERSARY.

Reverse

For the reverse of Secretariat Triple Crown 50th Anniversary Half Dollars a modified rendering of the Presidential Seal is found. Credited to Frank Gasparro, this design includes a bald eagle carrying both arrows and an olive branch in its talons. The bird is surrounded by a ring of stars as it carries a banner reading E PLURIBUS UNUM. Additional inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ONE DOLLAR.

History
