In 2015, Johnson Matthey sold their gold and silver refiners to Asahi Refining. Thus, Johnson Matthey gold bars are only available via the secondary market (sold to us by someone other than Johnson Matthey)
Asahi Refining offers several silver bars and a 1 oz gold bar option. This minted ingot features identifying marks of the bar and arrives inside a sealed blisterpack.
Engelhard, similar to Johnson Matthey, was bought out in the 2000s. As such, they don’t create gold bars anymore, but we still have Engelhard gold bars available via the secondary market.
Engelhard created minted ingots as well as cast bars in an array of sizes with many different purity options available. While design elements are minimal, Engelhard’s name is as reputable as they come in the industry.
Another popular option is the line of square bars offered by Geiger Edelmetalle. These popular bars are available in sizes ranging from 1 gram to 50 grams. Unlike most bars that are rectangular in shape, these bars are perfectly square and will arrive in sealed blisterpacks.
Geiger also offers a collection of 1 gram gold bars with themed assay packaging. The most popular options are Merry Christmas gold bars, congratulations bars, love bars, and Newborn bars.
The Germania Mint can be traced back to 1986 when it started as a numismatic store in Poland. The family business has evolved into a 200-person company creating amazing products for investors and collectors alike.
Their most popular gold bar option is their cast gold bars. Unlike most cast bars, the Germania Mint ships these in sealed assay cars more commonly found with minted ingots. Notably, the Germania Mint includes a hologram element on the reverse to enhance security. This is also uncommon for most cast bars as they typically feature a blank field on the reverse.
From 1958 to 2008, the ICMC was a government entity creating unique bullion inspired by national and historical events, and the people of Israel. In 2008 they were privatized after their purchase from the G.R.A.S. Group. With the move, The Holy Land Mint was created as a brand to bring Israeli investment products to the world.
Among their most popular options are their Dove of Peace Gold Bars. These gold bars feature the iconic image of a dove flying over the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem on a starry night. These minted ingots are available in sizes ranging from 1 gram to 100 grams and arrive in sealed blisterpacks with an assay card.
Italpreziosi was established in 1984 and has grown to become one of Europe’s largest refiners of gold and silver products. Every Italpreziosi gold bar at Provident Metals is made from .9999 pure gold.
Cast bars (available in sizes from 1 oz to 1 kilogram) show the identifying marks of the bar on the obverse and have a blank reverse. While the 1 oz bar arrives in a sealed assay card, larger options arrive in a plastic bag. Each bar is also individually serialized.
Johnson Matthey is one of the older names in the precious metal industry as they were founded in 1817. As such, Provident Metals has a wide array of Johnson Matthey gold bars available for purchase.
Johnson Matthey offers minted ingots and cast bars in a multitude of sizes ranging from 1 oz to 1 kilo. There are several different designs for their minted ingots but typically identifying marks of the bar are on the obverse with a repeating pattern on the reverse.

Rand Refinery was established in 1920 to refine gold in South Africa. The Rand Refinery supplies the South African Mint with gold for the popular South African Krugerrand Gold Series, however, they also create their own line of gold bars.

Sunshine Minting is among the most popular private mints in America. Founded in 1979 Sunshine is at the forefront in creating high-quality gold and silver rounds and bars.
In terms of gold bars, they have a few popular options. One option is their MintMark SI bars. These bars (available in sizes ranging from 1 gram to 1 oz) feature identifying marks of the bar on the obverse and their innovative MintMark SI on the reverse. Using a Sunshine decoder lens, the word “VALID” will appear on the reverse.
Another option is their popular Mercury bars. These gold bars show the image of the Roman god, Mercury, in right-profile relief. The reverse shows identifying marks of the bar.
Known for their stackers and stackables, Today LTD also created gold bars for special occasions. These fractional gold bars will arrive in themed assay cards and are available in sizes such as 1 gram, 3.75 grams, and 1/10 Troy oz.
They offer annual lunar-themed releases that feature a colorized, themed assay card. Another option is their Independence Day bar which shows the Statue of Liberty on the obverse.
