Design

The obverse of the 1/10 Gram Gold Aurum Liberty Note features a design that replicates the 1907 design from Augustus Saint-Gaudens. In this design, a powerful vision of Liberty walks forward confidently as the breezes brushes her gown and hair to her right. Undeterred, she strides into the future with a large torch in her hand to light the way and an olive branch in her left hand to symbolize peace. Rays of sunshine are visible behind her figure, with the US Capitol Building visible at her feet in the distant background. Beneath her feet, a half-moon cutout has the 2021 date mark. The upper corners have 100 Milligrams noted, with 24k gold in the lower corners. Liberty is noted above her head. On the reverse of 1/10 Gram Gold 2021 Aurum Liberty Notes, you will find the same design as a mirror image of the obverse.

History

Saint-Gaudens was commissioned directly by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1905 to help lead the charge in redesigning all of Americas major coin denominations. Between 1907 and 1916, the US penny, nickel, dime, quarter, half-dollar, and all four denominations in the Eagle Gold Series were redesigned. Saint-Gaudens design is considered the greatest of the designs to come out of this era. It was first used on the $20 Double Eagle Gold Coin from 1907 to 1933, and then later used by the US Mint on the American Eagle Gold Bullion Coin. Since 1986, this image of Liberty has graced the official gold bullion coin of the nation.
