The release of the 1/10 oz Gold 2020 South Korean Chiwoo Cheonwang Medals marks the first time in the young series that the obverse design of Do ggae bi has been modified in any way. From launch in 2016 through 2019, only the reverse images of Chiwoo Cheonwang have been modified in the series. This new image captures Do ggae bi with a wry smile and is based on artwork owned by the Gyeongju National Museum.

Obverse

On the obverse of the 1/10 oz Gold 2020 South Korean Chiwoo Cheonwang Medals is the new Do ggae bi bust. This image of the hobgoblin-like creature on the shield of Chiwoo Cheonwang comes with more visible and robust nostrils, eyebrows, and teeth. Larger bulls horns are also featured on the head. He is shown in front of the Hell Gate, a point where the forces of evil can spill into the mortal world and threaten humanity. Inscriptions on this face of the medal include Chiwoo Cheonwang.

History

According to legend, the Hell Gate emerges from underground as a point where immortal forces of evil can invade Chiwoos empire. Warned of the threat by the guardian Rattus, Chiwoo must gather the 12 Guardians and his massive armies to confront the forces of evil in what is sure to be a massive war.
