Produced by the Perth Mint, the Australian Gold Kangaroo is one of the most popular coins issued by the mint. Founded in 1896, the Perth Mint was the third oldest mint in Australia, trailing behind the Sydney Mint (f. 1855) and the Melbourne mint (f. 1872). Every Australian Kangaroo contains 1/10 oz. of .9999 pure gold bullion. It measures approximately 16 mm in diameter and 1 mm in thickness with a face value of $15.
