Obverse

A Chestnut Leaf is found on the obverse of 1 oz Proof Silver 2021 Chestnut Leaf Rounds. The design features two stems coming off a chestnut leaf. There are several leaves connected to the stem, with the edible chestnuts growing off a separate stem. The design element includes inscriptions of 1 oz, 999.9, Fine Silver, and Chestnut Leaf.

Reverse

The Germania Mint seal features on the reverse side of Proof Silver 2021 Chestnut Leaf Rounds. This design depicts the double-headed eagle, a figure initially associated with the Roman god Janus, the guardian of passageways. The design of the double-headed eagle has been popular in European heraldry for thousands of years and reflects a culture’s view of its past and eye toward the future. The inscriptions on this side include Germania, 2021, and 5 Mark.

History

The Mythical Forest Series was one of the first three collections offered by the Germania Mint starting in 2019. After a break in 2020, the series resumes with its second of four designs in 2021. The upcoming designs that will wrap up the collection include the Beech and Linden. The Chestnut Leaf release includes a 1 oz silver BU round and 1 oz gold Proof round in addition to these 1 oz silver Proof round.
