Among the many new designs introduced by the United States Mint in the early 20th century, the Buffalo Nickel became one of the most popular and remains one of the most replicated images youll find on modern bullion specimens. Right now, you can buy 1 oz Silver Buffalo Rounds from the Golden State Mint online at Provident Metals.

Highlights:

  • Arrives with an individual protective plastic flip or a tube of 20 rounds!
  • Replicates the Buffalo Nickel coin design from 1913!
  • Contains 1 Troy oz of .999 pure silver.
  • On the obverse is a stoic Native American.
  • The reverse depicts an American bison.

With your purchase of 1 oz Silver Buffalo Rounds, you will receive products in brand-new condition from the Golden State Mint (GSM). Individual specimens are housed inside of individual protective plastic flips and multiples of the silver rounds are housed together in tubes of 20 silver rounds.

Obverse

On the obverse side of the 1 oz Silver Buffalo Round is a depiction of a stoic Native American figure. The indigenous tribal figure is shown in right-profile relief with two feathers woven into his hair at the back of his head and braids on the side. The lone inscription is that of Liberty to the front of the figures nose.

Reverse

The reverse side of 1 oz Silver Buffalo Rounds depicts the American bison. The largest land mammal in North America, the bison is a powerful herd creature that was roamed widely across the Midwest and Central Plains of the United States. This design captures the bison standing on a small mound of dirt in left-profile relief. Golden State Mint is inscribed above the design with 1 Troy oz .999 Silver above the design element.

History

James Earle Fraser developed the images for the Buffalo Nickel in 1913. The designs were influenced by his life growing up in Minnesota and the plains of the Dakotas. Frasers design was submitted to the United States Mint in 1913 and approved by the administration of President William Howard Taft for use on the nickel.

The Buffalo Nickel remained in production at the United States Mint from 1913 to 1938. Today, you can find the Buffalo Nickel image replicated on silver rounds such as these, copper rounds, silver and copper bars, and a bullion coin from the United States Mint. The American Buffalo Gold Coin debuted in 2006 and remains available to this day.
