The obverse of each round you will see Buzz Aldrin in a spacesuit. He is standing in the area of the moon that is known as the Sea of Tranquility; the area looks completely barren. You can see Earth in the background. The engravings on this side of the round include Aldrins request as he stood on the surface of the moon: I Would Like to Request a Few Moments of Silence.

Reverse

The reverse of every coin in the Apollo 11 Series includes the image of a bald eagle landing on the moon. The eagle has an olive branch in its talons, and its wings are outstretched.

History

Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong are two of the most famous astronauts in history. They are also the first two people to ever set foot on the moon. Just six hours after landing on the surface of the moon, Armstrong lest the landing module and took the first steps in space. Both Aldrin and Armstrong would spend over 21 hours on the moon.
