Arguably one of the greatest coin designs in American history, Walking Liberty started life as a circulation design on the half-dollar denomination and lives on today on countless replica silver rounds and the ever-popular American Eagle Silver Bullion coins. In this special listing, you can purchase a $100 Face Value of the original Walking Liberty Half Dollars. Provident Metals currently has $100 Face Value Bags of 90% Silver Walking Liberty Half Dollars available to purchase online.
When you purchase a $100 Face Value bag in this product listing it contains a total of 200 coins from the 90% Silver Walking Liberty Half Dollar Series. These coins were produced by the United States Mint from 1916 to 1947 and are widely considered one of the two greatest coin designs in American history.
Walking Liberty was created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman to replace the Barber Coinage design on the half dollar. It featured on the obverse of 90% Silver Walking Liberty Half Dollars until 1947. In the design, Liberty is depicted in left-profile relief walking toward the sun on the horizon. She carries the American flag draped over her shoulders with her right hand outstretched toward the sun and her left hand clutching branches of oak and laurel.
An American bald eagle features on the reverse of all American coin denominations, with the 90% Silver Walking Liberty Half Dollars depicting a design from Weinman. He showcases the American bald eagle at rest on a cliffside as it clutches onto a small sapling growing from a crack in the rock face.
The Walking Liberty Half Dollar design replaced the Barber Coinage in 1916 and was itself replaced in 1948 by an effigy of Founding Father Benjamin Franklin. All Walking Liberty Half Dollars have a metal composition of 90% silver and 10% copper.
Please note that in buying this $100 Face Value bag, we cannot guarantee the date marks you receive. There are enough coins to total $100 (USD), but the tube could include all of one date mark or several different date marks in the Walking Liberty Series.
