When it comes to buying silver bars online, the options come down to minted ingots and cast silver bars. Minted ingots represented a more finished product, with precision lines and detailed engravings, while cast silver bars represent the long-running history of precious metal refining with simple forms and simple inscriptions stamped into the bars. You will most commonly find the largest weights of silver available only as cast silver bars, including 100 oz silver bars. Provident Metals currently has the new 100 oz Silver Florida Bar from Asahi Refining available to you for purchase online.
When you purchase a 100 oz Silver Florida Bar through this Provident Metals listing, the item you receive will come inside of a discreet cardboard shipper. The bars are produced in an iconic style similar to the majority of large cast silver bars on the market. Each one is set apart from the competition by its markings, with particular importance given to the location where these bars were produced. Struck at Asahis Florida-based operation, the state is noted in the inscriptions on the obverse.
For the obverse of 100 oz Silver Florida Bars, you will find the only purposeful inscriptions. Each one of these stamped inscriptions is struck horizontally left-to-right and arranged in a stacked setup down the vertical face of the bar. At the top is the mint logo. This is followed by inscriptions of Asahi Refining and Florida. There are no markings at the center of the bar. The bottom of the bar has inscriptions of 100 TOZ, Fine Silver, and 999.
In the reverse design field, the 100 oz Silver Florida Bar is blank. Most mints purposely leave the reverse field blank. In some cases, this is done because one side of the bar is not accessible during the cooling process. Regardless, you may notice some natural textures or striations that formed as the silver was cooling after the bars were cast.
Asahi Refining moved quickly to build up its portfolio of products once it took over from Johnson Matthey in the North American market in late-2015 and early-2016. The mints operations initially focused on smaller bars, but has grown to include 100 oz Silver Cast Bars such as these, as well as minted ingots, silver rounds, and gold bars.
