Morgan Dollar Silver Coins were issued by a total of five different mints over the course of 28 years in production. While the Denver Mint issued the coins just once, the lowest-minted coins came from the Carson City Mint. The Nevada-based branch mint issued the lowest mintages each year and struck the coins in only 13 years. Many of those coins ended up sitting in Treasury vaults rather than seeing widespread circulation. Right now, you can buy 1882-CC Morgan Dollar Silver Coins online at Provident Metals in certified condition.

With your purchase of an 1882-CC Morgan Dollar Silver Coin online at Provident Metals, you will receive a coin certified by the NGC. Mint State 63 coins showcase slightly impaired mint luster, with the potential for flaws such as clusters of small contact marks, a handful of heavier marks, and noticeable hairlines that are visible without the aid of magnification.

Obverse

The obverse of 1882-CC Morgan Dollar Coins comes with an effigy of Lady Liberty. The design offers a left-profile view of Libertys head with the Phrygian cap, coronet crown, and laurel wreath on her head. The field includes a ring of 13 stars around the bust of Liberty with inscriptions of E PLURIBUS UNUM, LIBERTY on the coronet crown, and the date mark of 1882.

Reverse

On the reverse side of the 1882-CC Morgan Dollar Silver Coin, you will find an image of the American bald eagle. This front-facing eagle is known as the heraldic eagle and features a bird with spread wings and talons that clutch the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace. The eagle is flanked by a laurel wreath and the field offers inscriptions that read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, ONE DOLLAR, and the CC mint mark of the Carson City Mint.

History

Many of the Carson City Mint Morgan Dollars were sent directly to banks to back Silver Certificates in circulation in the US. In the 1960s, millions of these Carson City Morgan Dollars were discovered in bags in Treasury vaults. The 1882 date mark had a mintage of 1,113,000 coins, with 605,029 1882-CC Morgan Dollars found in the vaults at that time. That represents more than 53% of the original mintage.
