Highlights:
Provident Metals is proud to offer these 1913 Pre-33 $20 Saint Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coins, each presented in impressive MS63 condition. While these coins may display an impaired mint luster with small contact marks and scattered heavier marks, along with minor hairlines and detracting scuffs, they also carry a unique charm that sets them apart from all others.
Obverse
The obverse of the 1913 Pre-33 Saint Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coin captures the essence of Lady Liberty in all her splendor. In this front-facing relief, Liberty strides confidently, holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left, surrounded by a ring of stars, sun rays, and the U.S. Capitol Building. Inscriptions include LIBERTY and 1913.
Reverse
On the reverse of these 1913 Pre-33 $20 Saint Gaudens Double Eagles, you’ll discover Saint-Gaudens majestic portrayal of the American bald eagle soaring over the rising sun in left-profile relief, symbolizing the nation’s indomitable spirit. Inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, TWENTY DOLLARS, and IN GOD WE TRUST.
History
Throughout the 1910s, the production of Saint-Gaudens Double Eagles saw a decline compared to previous years. Only two issues of the coin, the 1910-S and the 1914-S coins, surpassed 1 million for a given date and mint during the entire decade from 1910 to 1919. Notably, the Philadelphia Mint’s highest issue in the 1910s was the 1910 coin, with a limited mintage of just 482,000 units.
