Obverse
The obverse of all 1925 Peace Dollar Silver Coins features Anthony De Francisci’s remarkable design of Lady Liberty in left-profile relief, wearing a crown. Inscriptions include LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRVST, and 1925.
Reverse
On the reverse, you’ll discover Anthony De Francisci’s stunning portrayal of an American bald eagle in right-profile relief, with its wings gracefully folded and holding an olive branch. Unlike most depictions of the bald eagle, no arrows are pictured as this coin was meant to symbolize peace. Inscriptions on this field read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, PEACE, and ONE DOLLAR.
History
Peace Dollar Silver Coins hold a significant place in US bullion history. They were minted annually from 1921 to 1928, again from 1934 to 1935, and once more in 2021 alongside Morgan Dollar Silver Coins. These coins also mark the end of genuine “silver” dollars. Anthony De Francisci won a contest for the artwork of this coin, earning a $1,500 cash prize for his winning design.
