History
With the Philadelphia Mint being the only mint to issue the Double Eagle in 1928, the US Mint marked the first of five years in the final six issue dates of the series in which one mint issued the coin. In 1928, 1929, 1932, and 1933, only the Philadelphia Mint issued the coins. In 1931, Philadelphia and Denver issued the coins, while only San Francisco issued the coins in 1930.
