The 1918 Series of Federal Reserve Notes introduced the largest denominations in the United States. Ranging from $500 to $5,000 in denomination, these notes were not only not for everyday use by the average American, but in fact, had a value that far surpassed the annual average salary of most Americans at the time. Widely collected and destroyed in the 1970s, remaining specimens are a treasure to behold. Right now, you can buy 1934 $1000 Federal Reserve Notes in certified condition online at Provident Metals.
