Obverse
The obverse of the 1985 Proof Canadian National Parks Moose Silver Dollar Coin features British monarch Elizabeth II. The image is one created by Arnold Machin in 1968 for use on coinage in Britain and across the globe. This depiction features a fairly young monarch wearing a tiara and includes the shoulders instead of opting for a traditional couped portrait style, which cuts off at the neck. Inscriptions read ELIZABETH II, CANADA, and D.G. REGINA. The last is short for Dei Gratia Regina, or By the Grace of God. The inscriptions are separated by maple leaf symbols.

Reverse
The reverse side of the coin includes the inscriptions NATIONAL PARKS, PARCS NATIONAUX, DOLLAR, and 1885 1985. The inscriptions on this side are also separated by maple leaves. In the center, a detailed image of a moose is seen. The moose is wading in shallow water in a lake. Behind the moose, the scene captures elements of the gorgeous Canadian wilderness, including a forest and mountain.

Packaging
For protection, your coin will ship in a plastic capsule. You can use the capsule for storing or displaying your coin if you want to provide ongoing protection once you receive it.

History
The first Canadian National Park was Rocky Mountains Park. Today, the location is known as Banff National Park. While the park was officially recognized as a National Park in 1887, it was originally established as a national reservation in 1885 under the name Banff Hot Springs Reservation. This is the oldest National Park in Canada and what the centennial coin date is based on.
